Join us for this festive event, offered free of charge at the Maison de la culture Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, where musicians from all backgrounds come together to celebrate their love for the music of Slavic countries. Following the concert — featuring a program inspired by the Belle Époque, an era of artistic flourishing and elegance at the turn of the 20th century — the audience will have the chance to meet the artists and share a banquet of Slavic specialties.

In this concert, pianists Irina Krasnyanskaya and Jean-Fabien Schneider invite you on a journey to the heart of the Belle Époque through a program entirely devoted to the repertoire for two pianos. The audience will hear spectacular transcriptions of The Poem of Ecstasy by Alexander Scriabin and Daphnis et Chloé by Maurice Ravel, alongside works by Rachmaninov and Debussy, showcasing the full sonic richness and virtuosity of the piano duo. A short pre-concert talk will offer insight into the works and their artistic context.

The outstanding cellist Stéphane Tétreault presents a program of remarkable intensity devoted to two monuments of the repertoire: the celebrated cello sonatas by Sergei Rachmaninov and Dmitri Shostakovich. Combining passionate lyricism with profound expressiveness, these works rank among the most significant ever written for the cello. For this concert, he will be joined by the brilliant pianist Chloé Dumoulin, a rising star on the Montreal classical scene. A short pre-concert talk will offer insight into the works and their artistic context.

The Orchestre Nouvelle Génération pays tribute to Rachmaninov. The first half of the concert, devoted to arrangements for string orchestra, will be followed by a contemporary reimagining of the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, where classical writing and the language of jazz meet under the fingers of the exceptional virtuoso Matt Herskowitz.
