Musicians of all origins will unite to celebrate their shared love for the music of Slavic countries. Following the concert, the public will have the chance to meet the artists around a cocktail of Slavic specialties.

One of the greatest masterpieces of Soviet silent cinema, this film by Ukrainian director Alexander Dovzhenko is a triumphant hymn to nature and life, depicting the early days of land collectivization in the Soviet Union. For this special evening, pianist Ilya Poletaev will provide a complete musical score for the film, which he will perform live during the screening.

Three of the most important musicians on the Quebec classical scene present their own version of Stravinsky’s fascinating “The Soldier’s Tale.” The program will also include pieces by Ukrainian composer Nikolai Kapustin, whose unique style combines jazz harmonies and rhythms with classical structures, as well as arrangements of the great George Gershwin.
